VIA TRANSILVANICA = CAMINO DE RUMANIA [EN]
According to those behind this impressive project (Asociatia Tasuleasa Social) Via Transilvanica is "an extensive hiking trail of about 1200 km that was inspired from Spain's paths of pilgrimage, as well as long-distance trails in the USA and India".
Starting in Bucovina– the land of the Painted monasteries (part of UNESCO heritage), the trail goes through Transylvania to the South-West of Romania and it gives those who love to hike the opportunity to see some of Romania's most beautiful sceneries and visit amazing cultural and historic places. We are very lucky that a segment of the Bucovina stage passes through Fundu Moldovei - the village of my grandparents, where we've been involved in rural tourism for almost 20 years.

A month ago (October 2020) we decided to have a taste of this wonderful route. It was a rather short, but very rewarding hike around the village. There are also almost a dozen of well-marked routes easy to medium difficulty.

Daca iubiti drumetia, gasiti o retea de trasee bine marcate, pentru toate buzunarele (in ce priveste cazarea) dar si pentru toate...'picioarele' (ca si dificultate, in general usoara-medie) cu plecare / sosire in Fundu Moldovei.
Dintre acestea merita mentionata Via Transilvanica, o initiativa curajoasa si demna de lauda a celor de la Asociatia Tasuleasa Social, care pe segmentul Vatra Dornei - Pasul Mestecanis - Sadova - Vatra Moldovitei trece prin Fundu Moldovei (intre Pasul Mestecanis si la Sadova). Intr-o insorita zi de octombrie ne-am pornit intr-un scurt traseu (aprox 2,5 ore cu tot cu pauzele de fotografii) care a inclus 3 borne VT cu intoarcere pe traseul Ultrabug ziua 1 (prima urcare, din fericire noi am facut-o in sens invers).
Am intrat pe traseu VT la aprox 150 metri de Casa Ileana, punctul nostru de plecare si am urcat pe valea unui parau, prin padure, pe pasune alpina. Intreg traseul este pe Obcina Feredeului, peisajele sunt memorabile, mai ales cand se deschide vederea spre Rarau-Pietrele Doamnei. Dificultate usoara-medie. Izvor cu apa proaspata de munte in prima parte a traseului.
La coborare puteti admira valea Moldovei, satul Fundu Moldovei muntii Adam si Eva, Obcina Mestecanisului. In poza de mai jos se vad, putin ascunse intre brazi si mesteceni, si pensiunile noastre Vila Cetina si Casa din Deal.
